I visit MLB.com just about everyday of my life, and I never had seen this blog thingy until today. It was up on the front page and it looked interesting so I decided to give it a try.
I’ve been a baseball fan since I can remember…except for when I was in middle school and it was definitely NOT cool to be a baseball fan if you were a girl. I actually started to like it again courtesy of Mr. Derek Jeter, because thinking he was a "hottie" was the extent of how much baseball a girl could like before she was made fun of. I went to a Yankee game with my dad in NYC to stare at Jeter’s cute butt, only to realize how much I missed the game. They were playing the Indians, who at the time were realllly struggling, but my interest in the game had come back.
I was upset that a team I had followed through the 90’s to 2 WORLD SERIES had basically fallen apart. We had a bunch of no name players and I was sort of upset with our organization. But, one night I was running on the treadmill and came across one of the early Indians games on TV. It was the beginning of the game and as the announcers read names like Travis Hafner, Victor Martinez, and Coco Crisp, the only name I recognized was Vizquel.
I decided to watch that game anyways and I found that this team was young and exciting. It was 2004 and after almost 6 seasons of forgetting where my heart was, I had finally come back around. These past two seasons have been amazing, and HUGE steps in the direction of the playoffs in both 2004 and 2005 make me SO excited about 2006. Although the season is young, I think we can go all the way!!!
